To more fully address and establish positive character change the following essential points are addressed in the classes. -
Understanding God. To develop an understanding of God’s nature and one's inseparable relationship to Him through practical discussion and application of the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes. "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these." -
Understanding the new man. To understand one's spiritual status, which is unique to each, through identifying one's talent and applying it to daily life. "Put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." -
Humble self-examination. To nurture an ability to look within to find one's spiritual nature through honesty and sincerity. "Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults." -
Repentance of sin. To understand that repentance of sin is the only way to understand one's true, spiritual character. "Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." -
Practical actions needed. To express kindness towards others, especially strangers. "Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." -
Unceasing prayer. To help one to understand that church is in the way that one thinks, talks and acts in everyday life through applying the Lord's Prayer. "Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." -
Loving your neighbor. To share one's spiritual identity by reaching out to bless everyone more fully, whether considered as friends or enemies. "Love your neighbour as yourself." "Love your enemies…be ye therefore perfect." -
Expressing Christlike actions. To encourage everyone to be more Christ-like by following Jesus' example daily. "Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils." -
Transcendent living. To consider questions about Christianity, in a context, that transcends church buildings and doctrine, by demonstrating good character in daily living. "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things." -
Doing God's will. To appreciate that happy living is totally dependent on doing God's will. "Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart." - Unselfed service. To explain that happiness is about unselfed living to see that all problems, one's own to world issues, should be addressed to demonstrate the one body in Christ. "No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us."
