Compassionate Awareness Needed

There is a need for concerned citizens to reach out and assist the larger community by addressing the challenge of criminal activity, especially to help with true reformation and develop a method by which lowers the cost of dealing with prisoners who return to society. Activities are evolving in the United States through U.S. governmental support from The White House. The President has established an office for faith-based initiatives.

There is a growing feeling that prisons and jails should fulfill a truer redemptive role by providing moral instructions which should result in the healing of a criminal mind-set, that is, to initiate a process which will extend to their release and beyond to successful citizenship. Along these lines, there is a growing trend towards a practical, active support for rehabilitation rather than retribution in the United States today. It’s important that more compassion be expressed to inmates, but with a disciplined approach to actually effect positive moral character change.
